"Do" (s) and "Don't"(s)

I am working on a list of "dos" and "don'ts" for the Friend, Pastor, Loved one or Care giver.

I would love to see any of your suggested "dos" and "don'ts" as a survivor yourself or the Friend, Pastor, Loved one or Care giver. I may use them in my book with your permission!

  1. Don't minimize loss..
    Don't be uncomfortable in crying.

    Do LISTEN.

Do ride out the healing process of grieving. There is no prescribed "appropriate dosage" of grief. Therefore, you just keep grieving until the pain gets numb enough to stand up straight and get back to your "grief medicated life".

    1. Thanks for your comments!

I'm assuming that your comments are for the survivor of suicide? Would you share where your suggestions come from? For exammple: is this from personal experience, or observations?

I'm also looking for input for the caregiver, pastor, friend, or loved one to use when they are ministering/consoling the survivor of suicide. Feel free to share your personal experiences from ministering to a survivor of suicide or as a survivor of suicide!
